great idea.

Sorry - I haven't posted a new blog post in a while now. I've been busy working late hours at NewCov. Pat and I both have been getting everything all dialed in for the upcoming sermon series called "RESCUE". I believe we are really taking it up a notch here. This was a great idea we had. I hope it all comes together. More on the Sermon Series and the set design later on at the newcovproduction blog.

So...This great idea reminded me of another great idea I had back in the day while I was running the 5th and 6th grade youth group called S.U.R.F.(Serving Under a Radical Father). Well.. it was video promo piece for a event! Check it out this video.

newcov production.

Patrick and I haven't slowed down over here at NewCov since I got here back in November. Lots of great things taking place on Sunday Mornings. We've had good sermon series back to back. Great stage and set designs. And some sweet God moments in the services.

I posted a few new post on the newcovproduction blog last night.

Check them out it HERE and see for your self!

my first car.

My first car - 1978 Toyota Corolla LiftBack. Bright Orange!

I bought it off the Clovis West High School Auto Shop. It wasn't running at the time of purchase, but I knew it was going to be a great little car for me. I got it for only $300 dollars or so. And after almost $1000-$1500 dollars of repairs, it ran like a champ! All the work done by me! I even drove it to Oregon and back one summer. No overheating... at the time.

The day it died was a day I will never forget. My youth Pastor, and now friend, Scott Borman, asked me to give him a ride to pick up his car at the shop one evening. I agreed and off we went. I kind of had a little bit of a overheating problem the last couple of weeks with the car. But I really didn't think about fixing it, because I never went anywhere that was so far away that would be a long enough amount of time for the car to overheat. As we were cruising down the freeway, I noticed the gauge was starting to get into the RED. Scott noticed it too. I told him we were cool. Later Smoke started to come out of the hood. "We're still okay", I said. Then Smoked started to enter the cab of the vehicle. A lot of smoke! And then... the car died. We now were coasting up the ramp and onto a BUSY shaw avenue! Luckily the light turned green just in time and we coasted all the way in the parking lot of a restaurant. Scott and I then had to walk to the shop to get his car. That was the last time the great pumpkin car ran.

Scott and I still laugh about the day. Later the car became a demolition car for a sledge hammer at a youth group hang out party, called "the spot." It was a after high school football games event. Good times!

Tell me about your first car!

This is a extreme CLOSE-UP of my Bryce-RRRR-Bears. His mommy took these photos of him today. He just turned one years old last Tuesday. Man, he's a big boy. He's starting to walk now too. He was already getting into everything before while he was crawling. And now we really have to watch out for him since he's on his feet.

The Datrix.

I'm sure everyone has seen or heard of the great Matrix movies?!?!?! I haven't seen them all at least 3-4 times each. The Matrix movie was off the charts good back in 1999. So we jumped all over it and made "The Datrix."

Garrett Kirby had some great ideas in the filming process and Patrick, Jarrod and Jason were great as usual. I had a great group of guys that came every week to help out and serve in anyway for the Youth groups at newcov. We all just really enjoyed making videos. So that's what we did every Monday,Tuesday, and sometimes Wednesdays, for like 2-3 years. All that dedication and hard work really payed off in the growth of all the youth groups at newcov back in that time. The Datrix probably had been shown the most out of any other video we made next to OuttaSync - you make me hurl.

"The Datrix" spoof was made during a dating sermon series at newcov high school group back in year 2000. This funny video came out pretty good. By far the best video effect was seeing me jump 20 feet in the air on to a roof top! Check it out!

SWCRS two.

Alright! All YEAH! Alright! All YEAH!

Just finished up Round two of the Spirit West Coast Road Show
Live at New Covenant.

What a fun day today was for me. Got to be the "house guy" for two venues and run pretty much all the of the tech for the two concerts. Including Sound! Which is not my favorite thing to do. But you do, what you got to do. Didn't have much to run in the morning, so I just ran that one smaller gig by myself. But I did get some help for the main concert this evening from some members of the tech team. And I sure did need it. This tour was not self-contained. They used all of New Covenant's house lighting, sound, and video.

This day definitely made me miss my old gig in' days at Live Light. That was a fun time for me then! But I'm here now and I'm lovin' it at newcov more than ever now.

(Paul Wright and I - Paul Wright on stage)

Paul Wright and Bob Smiley are two really cool guys. I got to chat with them a little about their ministries and families. As I was thanking them, for coming and being such a great pleasure to work with, they both thanked me for a great event. They said this was by far their best production of the tour so far.

Make sure to check out the photos & videos from tonight at

SWCRS one.

I'm not a sound guy! I really don't enjoy running sound, but I'll do it. I'm not that good at it, but I am better than some people at it. Sometimes it can be fun and today it has been.

Just got done turning knobs and sliding faders for a luncheon over in the Student Ministry Center at newcov for Christian Music artist Paul Wright and Comedian Bob Smiley. They are here doing a Spirit West Coast Road Show event. Tonight they will be in the Main Sanctuary.

I'll make sure to have my camera ready and hopefully I can get a someone to run sound so I can be in the Lighting booth where I belong!

Check out the post over at the newcovproduction blog HERE.

beer-can chicken.

"I always BBQ with beer... sometimes I use it on the food!"

I LOVE TO BBQ! - I LOVE TO GRILL!

Last Sunday night my "pops" (Kelly, my dad-in-law) and I tried something a little different on the Bar-Be-Que. Have you ever had Beer-can chicken? You place a half full beer can up the chickens... you know what. And stand it up on the can and its legs just like a tri-pod on the grill. It took about 1 hour are more to grill it up. Oh man, was it moist! Yummy too!! It was fun eating it right off the bones. I could have eaten the whole thing by myself out side before it hit the kitchen counter. Not much favor on these ones though. We did rub it with pappy's seasoning, but I want to try it again and kick it up a notch or two!

Check out this recipe on the barbecue Bible Blog HERE.

We also had some old fashion BBQ sauce on some legs, and wings.

outtasync.

He's another one of my youth ministry videos from year 2000 at newcov.

We were in a dating sermon series for the high school group and decided this song would be good to have some fun with it. After finishing the music video, we realized that it turned out pretty good and we should have spent more time on it. It would have been better if we used a better wardrobe, filmed more in different locations, and having a girl really play the girl part. But It still gets plenty of laughs.

bryce 1st b-day.

My youngest son, Bryce, had his first birthday party on last Saturday afternoon. We had a lot of people come and celebrate his special day. Jill invited over 80 people and about 50 showed! The party was themed "RACE CARS!" and my wife did a great job throwing the party. Everyone had a good time. It was by far the best one year b-day party I have ever been too.

I still can't believe that we have now thrown two first birthdays for our boys and another one to throw in less than two years from now. Time fly's when your having fun!

fun times.

Some of you might not know that I started out in ministry at the youth level. After high school I was "roped" into helping out in the junior high group at newcov. Then I became the fifth and sixth grade youth director and eventually became the high school pastor's assistant. I was actually handed the high school group in 2004, but decided to move into Creative arts ministry instead. And that's a whole other story in it self.

So anyways, I made a lot of videos back in the day. I recently have been transfering all of them onto my harddrive from VHS and Hi8 tapes! I will be sharing some of them with you all here and there. Heres one I acted in, filmed, directored, and edited all by myself. ALL ME - all the time!

I actually ran this twice with two different pictures of myself. And I still got 4 out of the five same celebrities look alikes. I guess I am pretty HOT STUFF! I'm more surprised that Kirk Russell was not on the list. What do you think?

thee first re:create?

I really don't know why I think this is so funny?!?!?! It just is!

re:create memories.

Well...

This week has been very interesting for me. And a little boring at the same time. However twitter and the blogsphere has kept be up to date with what's going on over in Franklin, TN and the Re:Create Conference. That was way cool. I was trying to figure out how many years I have attended the conference. I'm positive I've gone three times, but I think I might have been a total of four times. Not Sure.

Anyways...

Wish I could have gone this year. But it's all good. Hopefully next year I can go again. It would have been nice to see everyone and chat it up. The thing I love about Re:create the most is that you always come home tired, fat, beat-up, feeling ineffective in your ministry, excited to do new things, asking yourself why even brother, but at the same time YOU COME HOME SO MOTIVATED TO DO GREAT THINGS FOR GOD. Not only in the Church, but most importantly, in your everyday life. Hope all of you that went this year had a great time and I'm looking forward to hearing all the great things that happened not only from Pat, but from everyone of you Re:Create Bloggers!

Check it out...

I went though some of my older pictures folders and found some photos from only two of the years I have gone. Maybe Pat has more on his computer files?
