Which Way Should We Go?

Which Way Should We Go? - The High Road? Or The Low Road?

When Kelly and I drove out to Georgia, last summer, we went "The High Road". It was a nice drive. Many interesting stops on the way. But I'm thinking about taking "The Low Road" with Jill this time. You know, see more of the country side! It would add about 300 more miles and 4 hours of driving time on the trip. I'm still not sure yet. Could go either way.

So... Can you help me decide? Which way should we go now?!!?

California Love!

YES! It’s True!

The Parker’s are moving back to California!

This was not an easy decision for us to make. The past year, in Georgia, at North Point, as the Lighting & Scenic Director, has been incredibly rewarding. We've enjoyed many good times here as well as being apart of a really great ministry here in the ATL. The things we have learned in ministry at North Point we will take with us for the rest of our lives.

It feels like yesterday that we made the HUGE Parker Family announcement that we were leaving New Covenant and moving to Georgia. (That was only one year ago.) So I could work at an amazing church. Alongside an excellent production team.

However… Jillian and I have decided that living closer to our friends and family is far more important to our three boys and us right now. So, we have decided to head back to Fresno.

Let me just say that we LOVE North Point Community Church! I have really enjoyed working here. The staff is an awesome group of people. I will miss working with them VERY much. Plus the children's program is top-notch here and my kids loved it! I really wish we could pick up North Point, and the staff, and place it in California.

We both have met a lot of great people here in Georgia. Many good friendships were made here as well. And we pray that we can continue to stay connected with them. That’s the great part about Facebook, twitter, and blogs!

This past year has had its up and downs. (Way more ups than downs.) And we’re not going to stay it was a bad decision to move here. (Because it wasn’t.) We have learned a lot about ourselves and our marriage is stronger for it! Our family bond is stronger than oak now, too! What we have learned the most is that having our family and friends close to us is really important to our well-being.

We will continue to pray for North Point Community Church and its ministry in the Atlanta area and its impact worldwide. We pray that God will continue to bless this church!

Jill and I are very excited about what is in store next and we are looking forward to the next chapter of the Parker Family Story!

We would appreciate your prayers in this new adventure…

GOD IS GOOD…

Happy Birthday Jilly!

I helped the boys make Birthday cards for their mommy on her special day. This was a lot of fun. They told me what they wanted to draw for her and we drew it together. I held the crayon in my left hand and they used both of theirs on top of mine. Carson really wasn't into it. So, no card from him. But McKay made sure he was in his card too. HA!

McKay's Card
Happy Birthday - I Love You - Mommy
"Thanks for letting me help take out the trash."

Bryce's Card
Happy Birthday - Mommy - I Love You
"I love blowing bubbles with you outside."

This is a really late blog post. Her birthday was in May! Thought she might post it first on her blog. Beat her to it! Check out her blog HERE.

McKay's photography

I found these Photos on my camera tonight. McKay took these shots all by himself. Well... not the first one. I took that one. Right before he had his photo shoot. This was a while ago because I don't remember him taking these. I do think I need to get him his own camera. He's not to bad! I hope you enjoy them. I did delete all the duplicates. He had like 5-10 shots of each thing. I guess he wanted to get it just right. Ha!

My Favorite is the Curious George Bi-plane photo.... What's yours?

Who's your buddy?

I found this short video clip in a folder on my MacBookPro today. HA! I don't even remember doing this with my buddy, @patamo. You might not think this is funny.....and that's okay! But I find it to be hilarious! Don't know why.

I love our chats online. We laugh. We Cry. It's really therapeutic. Sometimes we just be chillin' and don't talk to much about anything. Or we just trash talk the whole time.

It's awesome to have a friend like this... Who's your buddy?!?!

new bookshelf

Yes! Another piece of furniture from Target that will be in house! Yay! We pretty much only shop at Target, Costco and the grocery store. We got this bookshelf a long time ago and finally I'm putting it together. This will go into the boys room for there one-million books that were on the floor or in small boxes.

The boys just love to help out Daddy with projects. (We put a desk together too!) We got out our tools (Felipe, Turner & Pat) and went to work. Oh, we did make one mistake. We put the backing on backwards. I seem to always have that one mess-up on these small projects. D'oh!

There were a few time outs given, but we still put this BookShelf together in under 50Seconds! Seriously.... see for yourself.

Dr. Peanut Butter

Here's another funny video/skit from my old youth group days at newcov.....

It's a little slow at first, but stick with it to the end. It's pretty funny. It took forever to get all that Peanut butter off my body! And we were cleaning it up for weeks backstage in the old sanctuary. Darn youth pastors!

"It's called wonder cream.... it may look a little bit like peanut butter!"

"squares" - Stage Design

Just wrapped up a Six week Sermon Series, with Andy Stanley, at North Point Community Church, called 'Balanced'.

This series was also a start of "Live Andy" at all three North Point Campus each Sunday. Each week, Andy will speak live at a different NP Campus, and then he is played back semi-delayed (like 5 minutes or less) to the other two churches. Kind of like your home DVR or Tivo systems. So now all three multi-campus calenders are in sync. From the sermon series to set design, everything is the same and is times three!

Side Note: I started using Google's Free Sketch-up software to draw up my set designs. It was quick and pretty easy to pick up. I still have a lot to learn on it. But It sure is nice to be able to share a drawing like this, rather than a free hand drawing, to the team.

Watch SuperBowl Commericals

How many of you only watch the SuperBowl every year, so you can watch the commercials?

Come on... be honest!

(Click HERE to watch all of them from last years game to get ready.)

"It Must Be Football Season!"

Remember those "It Must Be Football Season!" commercials that 'Southwest Airlines' did?

Well... Here are some old spoofs we made about them for youth group nights at New Covenant back in the day! I thought it would be fun to share these now, because the SuperBowl is next weekend. (And we all know many of you only tune-in for the commercials and not the game.)

These were perfect youth group funny videos. They were short and easy to make. All 3 of them were made the day of youth group night and edited with iMovie on a iMac. I had a lot of fun back then working with my team of talented guys.

Which one do you like the most?

Compassion International

My wife (@jillparker) and I have been wanting to do this for a while now, but we haven't done it yet. Until now. Last night...we started sponsoring a child with COMPASSION.

It all started on Sunday Morning, at North Point, when Jill and I heard Andy Stanley's message on using your "extra money" for something great. Then later that night she watched a video over at WhittakerWoman's blog... then I watched it... and the rest is history.

MEET LOY

Please join us and sponsor a child too. It's only $32 a month. This money will make a difference in their lives. Actually 80% of the $32 goes toward meeting the physical, metal, social, economic, educational and spiritual needs of your sponsored child. And remember, a little will go a much longer way in a third world country.

We do not have "extra money" each month, but we figured out a way to make this happen. We canceled our home phone line and changed our cell phone plans to a lower package.

See... if we can do this, You can do this.

Check out the Compassion Blog HERE.

Praying for the President

Andy prays for the President.

He asks us to pray for the President.

And today, Andy prayed for the President in front of the President.

I'm sure many of you didn’t know or didn't get to see this today. The Senior Pastor of North Point Community Church, Andy Stanley, prayed for The President of the United States of America, Barack Obama, at the National Prayer Service in Washington, DC. The service was held at the National Cathedral.

"Grant to Barack Obama, president of the United States, and to all in authority your grace and good will. Bless them with your heavenly gifts, give them wisdom and strength to know and to do your will." - Rev. Andy Stanley

shooting range

So I went to the Shooting Range with Luke and Matt the other day. We rented a GLOCK 19 9mm. I shot four rounds worth. (15 shots a round/in the clip.) My first round was by far the best one. I can't believe how loud and how much kick that little gun had. My adrenaline was pumpin' big time as I was poppin' a cap into those paper targets! I had a lot of fun. Hope to do it again soon.

Who wants to take me next time?

Don't mess with me!

'why worry' set-design.

New 3 part series at North Point

"WHY WORRY" w/ Andy Stanley

This series was LIVE at Browns Bridge Church. BenjaminJames, the Lighting & Scenic Director at BBCC, came up with this set-design. I'm so glad he's on our NPCC SPD team. We get a lot of great ideas from him. Check out his Blog HERE for pictures of his stage. (And I know.... his looks really good! More lights and good photographers are always a plus!)
