-USA ringtone sales totaled $500 million last year and should increase to $600 million this year.
-Globally, ringtone sales were $4.4 billion last year.

muy hot.
It was a record setting day. It was 112° on Sunday, here in Fres-yes! That broke the record for the hottest day on record for July 16, since 1925. It was muy hot!
Live Light, Ryan Wissink and I, had a gig out at the Paul Paul Theathre located at the Fresno Fair Grounds. It was for the local radio station 107.9 "La Kalle". It was their one year old birthday bash. They had a lot of popular mexican singers and Disc Jockeys playing to a pretty big crowd. We had only a front truss. It was 40' of pre-rig with 48 Par 64's. I did enjoy most of the beats from the DJ's, but I couldn't undrstand the lyrics from the singers. Most of the artist sing in Spanish. (I know...duh.) One thing I found funny was that the MC's of the event spoke in english to the crowd, along with most of the artist. But they sang alot their songs in spanish. Some of the tunes were in spanlish. You know... half spanish, half english?!?!

bigger or better. (update)
***UPDATE***
Last night on the ABC News show 20/20 there was a report on this "Bigger or Better" story that I posted about on Thursday. Kyle McDonald had a great idea to barter stuff off and see were it takes him. This is him wearing his "lucky trading shirt". (This shirt paid-off for trade number eight.) I still can't believe he started this game with the full intention on getting a house.
If I could figure out how to have yourtube on my blog I would post this video, but I havn't done that yet. So... watch the 20/20 video here.

bigger or better.
A Canadian man was handed the keys to a three-bedroom house Wednesday, exactly a year after he offered a red paper clip online, asking to trade it for "bigger or better" things.
WOW! Great Game! In only 14 trades, and one year of "playing" time, he got a house. And the funny is, his goal was to get a house.
We used to play "Bigger or Better" in Junior High at church. We just got old couches or ten-speed bikes or old wooden TVs. I rememeber one year we got a canoe! It came with a set of lifejackets and oars! Have you ever played? What did you get?

pause it.
Tonight my wife and I watched the movie, "50 First Dates", starring Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler. We have a Replay TV so we paused it several times thoughout the night as we made dinner, played with our son, ate dinner, gave him a bath, and finally did the dishes. What a fun night. (My wife did pretty much all the hardwork. But I did gave him a bath.)
I'm gonna recommend that you watch this movie, even if you have seen it already. Watch it again. It's pretty good. Do you think it's funny how they are all the same people in these kinds of movies.? You know..... it's like they stick together or something. I guess it's because they are all friends and they work well with eachother? Whatever.... their funny ficks.

hot day.
Yesturday, Live Light Inc. had another Long & Hot day!
We started the Load-in at Noon and finished Load-out at 1245am. And I heard at was 108 degrees at the gig site. (I bet it was hotter than that on the blacktop.) The gig was at the new ThunderStirke Custom Motorcycles shop in Madera Ranchos, CA. It was a 30' x 30' box truss with four lamp bars, and a 32' x 16' stage. I believe it was a birthday party for the electric guitar player. It was a mini "RobFest". We'll be doing the main RobFest later this month at Table Mountain Casino. I'll be sure to post about that gig later.

movie on the lawn.
My Church had a movie night last night for the young couples ministry. I volunteered to set-up the screen and sound system. I grabbed a bed sheet, small projector, dvd player, and a portable sound system. There was a gazebo in the middle of the yard that I wrapped the sheet around to form the "BIG" screen. It turned out okay. We watched a pretty good film, the romantic comedy "Return To Me." The weather was perfect too. It was fun nite.

fresno freedom fest.
My Church, New Covenant, had it's second annual Freedom Fest last night. It was a really great event. I heard there was over 2500 people in attendance. There was corn dogs, popcorn, ice cream, music, and of course, fireworks! And I mean good fireworks! The energy in the air was so awesome. Everyone there was just so fired up and ready to rock out to some patriotic classics and to celebrate freedom. Pat and the worship team/chior did a excellent job singing those patriotic songs. And the Sound guys did a great job as well. The wind was blowing pretty good several times during the night. Lighting was pretty boring for me. It pretty much was just front lite on. No back lites to bump and play with.
I got the opportunity to design the whole rig. It was a 40' front lighting truss on crank-up towers with the sound rigged to it as well. Plus a 24' x 40' stage for the band and choir. (The stage actually looked small once we had everyone on it.) But next year I say we take it up a couple notches. How about a 40' x 40' self-climbing truss rig. We then could have front and back lights with a flag back drop. Maybe even some moving lights. This event will be a tradition at newcov for many years to come that won't get old. People love fellowship, food, and fireworks! GOD BLESS AMERCIA!!!

long day.
Saturday was a very long day for me and the rest of the Live Light guys. We started load-in at 700am and finished load-out at 130am. The gig was out at the Fashion Fair Mall. It was a self-climbing 30' x 30' truss rig with Sound and Lighting, plus Staging to go along with it. It was so HOT, HOT, HOT! We started an early load-in that morning just for that reason. So we then had some time to hang and get some lunch at BJ Pizza and Brewery. Mainly we just tried to stay off our feet and out of the sun before sound checks and what not.
There was three talents during the show. One of them was the Local American Idol contestant, Jose “Sway” Penala, that got in the top 20, I believe, of this most recent season. The other was a band named Mumbo Gumbo. The wasn't able to use any lights for Sway do to the setting sun on stage. But the bands second set was after sundown. So I was able to bump some lights to the beats for them. And the last talent was the awesome fireworks show. All in all it was a fun day. It was just a Long and Hot one.
